My ever-evolving Living Room

This is my living room right now...and I'm loving it! ....for now.

I honestly don't know what is wrong with me, but I'm constantly changing things around, adding new stuff, new paintings, etc.....you get the picture.

Maybe it's my personality...or maybe it's the fact that I'm a stay-at-home-mom and I just start to go nuts after a while when things stay the same too long.

Whatever.

Change is good, right? And it's not like I'm spending piles of money doing it ;)

This is how it all started...UGH.

Just horrible.

Then it went to this....I honestly don't know how I ever liked this room...but I did.

For about a year.

Then I craved something lighter and brighter...and it turned into this...

Then "the girls" were painted, and they had a place there for a few months...

Until I decided I needed the white slipcovers. I'm still loving those, by the way :)

Then spring came, and I wanted a dose of colour. The pink camellia painting sorted out the "no colour" problem. There's something about the pink/blue combo that seriously makes me happy.
 I know...so shallow.

I'd had a love-hate relationship with the cowhide rug for a while. It was just not working for us, with a baby rolling around on it. So, I picked up this little white shag rug from IKEA for $69. It's no nice to sit on with the boys, playing cars and trucks and all the stuff we like to do :)

So there you have it....my ever-changing living room. Anyone else as ADD as me with their homes?

  1. I had no idea you had leather couches under those white slips. Seems like you and I have had similar transformations with our living rooms. How do you like the slips over the leather? Did you have them custom made?

  4. Hi Tracey! I love your living room and like T was so surprised to see that you have dark leather couches underneath those slipcovers!! I have dark brown leather couches too that my hubby loves, but I really, really do not and they make me dislike my living room!!

I LOVE your slipcovers. Did you make them and if you did may I ask what fabric you used? Sorry to ask so many questions, but this post has just made my day!!! Wishing you a wonderful day my sweet friend ~ Tina xx

  9. Actually I am starting to think I have serious problems, or maybe even commitment issues. Commiting to one style, floor plan, etc. I love the slipcovers too!

The room looks perfect for spring - I can't wait to see what summer brings.

  18. Oh my I see I am not alone. But I was stunned to see those are leather sofas under the slipcovers. Do you find they are extra slippery? I have black leather sofas and with my new black dining table I feel as though it is too dark - now you have me thinking.....

  20. Tracey...I love the idea of the couch slip covers...what a major difference it can make to recreating a look in your living area. I love the way you have it set up at the moment....and also liked the stage before that..I have to say..Im a huge fan of the cow hide rug and loved how it worked in your living room...but yes...agree...can understand not so practical with little ones...as I am also learning with my little Jacq. I think they call it IDD...Interior Decorating Deficit..lol...I think we all suffer from it to some degree...lol xoxox

Now the question is: how will your living room look like in a couple of months?

  30. Wow...just discovered your blog, and am sort of in love with your living room. I loved the view that you showed of the other end, with the piano and that lovely buffet-type piece. That's to die for. I'm constantly changing my interiors as well...and hey, if all it takes to make us happy is a pink-and-blue combination...I don't call that shallow, I call it low maintenance! ;-)
